Matlock Live consists of a group of local professional and community arts organisations and individuals from the Matlock area who are committed to extending and building an interest in the visual and performing arts.
Our purpose is to encourage local arts organisations and individuals to work together to promote engagement in the visual and performing arts. We seek to provide a range of opportunities for local groups and individuals.

Through performances, concerts and visual arts exhibitions we aim to raise the profile of the arts throughout the community, inspiring the involvement and interest of people of all ages and abilities. We provide workshops, performances, exhibitions and a range of other live events, where possible free of charge.
We aim to draw in an entirely new audience and create a fresh and exciting profile for arts activities in the area.
Matlock Live celebrates the quality and diversity of the arts in and around Matlock, with activities for all age groups.
Matlock Live is a Multi-genre organisation, covering all art forms: applied and visual arts, crafts, music (classical, sacred, traditional, musical theatre, rock, young bands), contemporary and traditional dance, drama and literature.
We support and coordinate individual organisers of performances, exhibitions and workshops in any of the above, as well as organising some events of our own.
Matlock Live aims to:
- Enable participation in live arts for all age groups.
- Develop the infrastructure of the local arts scene.
- Enable a cross fertilisation of ideas, resources and people involved in the arts from both within and from outside the area.
The members of Matlock Live achieve this by supporting one another and networking together throughout the year, to stage a range of Matlock Live 'Events' throughout the year.
We operate an inclusive approach and welcome all to make available as wide a spectrum of arts activity as possible. We welcome ideas for new events and activities.

We cover Matlock and the surrounding area; that is the catchment of Highfields Secondary School which includes Winster, Darley Dale, Cromford, Lea, Holloway and Whatstandwell. We also welcome casual visitors to the town and encourage them to participate in our activities.
We are a Voluntary Community Interest Company with a membership which is representative of professional and voluntary or community groups and individuals involved in the arts.
We support participation in all its many forms, whether in a workshop or as a member of an audience.
